Two days in Vienna

28/8/2019

After cruising all night we arrived in the beautiful city of Vienna at 8:00am.  We have to be up and ready as our tour starts at 8.30 because it is going to be warm today.

 We have a walking tour of Vienna where we are shown the the sites of Vienna both old and new.  We head for the 1st District  which is the centre of Vienna. 

Some of the sites we see are the Museum of fine arts , the Hofburg Palace, the Parliament building  which is being renovated. We drove down The Ringstrasse which is lined with the most elegant buildings and of course lots of expensive shops.

We were given the choice of returning to the ship or staying in the city for lunch - we chose the later and had Weiner  schnitzel for lunch which was amazing even though it was from an Italian shop 😂. We even managed to get back to the ship via the underground railway. 

Tonight we are attending the Liechtenstein City Palace for a private concert by the Viennese Orchestra.  Then back to the ship for a traditional Austrian supper of frankfurter, borscht  soup, and Apple Strudel

Today we are off to Bratislava- Slovakia. So we have to take our passports just in case we are stopped at the border.  Pity we don’t get stamps in passport anymore ☹️

It takes an hour to get to Bratislava from the ship, our guide was amazing and a comedian.  He took us through some amazing little shopping streets and past all the consulates that all had the most amazing views of the city.  

We then went to the Bratislava Castle although we didn’t go in we got to see the city from that view. 

We were then taken to the old town pedestrian walking zone where we had free time for lunch and shopping.  We decided not to shop so just stayed at the outside cafe and watched the world go by. 

The ship sails to Budapest Hungary tonight so another Country we have visited. D

Tonight we have the Captains farewell cocktail party followed by the gala dinner.
