Day 17 30/08/2019 Budapest

Today we woke up in Budapest. We were told to be up on the sun deck early because the sights coming into Budapest would be amazing, and they were.

Today we are all going on the same tour. Budapest is the capital of Hungary and from the bus we got to see some wonderful highlights all through the eyes of the expert tour guides.

Hero’s square, millennium monument,  Museum of fine arts and the Art Gallery.  Then a walking tour to take in the Castle district which consisted of the Royal Palace, Mathias Church and the Famous Fisherman’s Bastion.

Following this we are taken to Budapest’s oldest railway station where we are led to the Royal waiting room where we walk in to footsteps of Sisi, The Empress of Austria and later the Queen of Hungary. We enjoyed a train ride through the Hungarian countryside while we were served a delicious lunch on board a Grand Empress Steam Train.

We arrived a Veresegyhaz where we boarded a bus to the Godollo palace and were welcomed by Hussar trumpeters and were given a extensive tour of the palace known as the Hungarian Versailles.

Following the tour we attended a 30-minute Baroque theatre play then finally were taken back to the ship.  It has been a very long day.

Tonight is our last night on the ship so it is time to say goodbye to some of the acquaintances we have made on the tour and we are travelling to Prague with some of the closer friends who we have spent a lot of time with this holiday and had a lot of fun and made lasting memories.

It is also time to pack up our cases and try to fit everything into our bags 😂
