Day 8 21/8/2019

We are now on the River  Main (pronounced Mine in  German ) it is 524 km long.  It stretches from the Rhine to the Danube and has 34 large locks.  It also has a lot of low bridges so the upper sun deck was closed on at least 3 days.

Miltenberg suffered a lot from the 30 year war between  1618 1648,it could not be replaced so it is like it is stuck in a time warp and seems like a fairy tale village.

Happy  Birthday Ian 69 today

Cruising this morning until arrival in Miltenberg at 12.00 noon

Activity on board Glass blowing demonstration.

Must say this was more entertaining than the one we saw At Murano in Venice Italy.  Hans kept us entertained for 2 hours with his commentary and demonstration.

Lunch then off on our freedom of choice tours the ship continued sailing to  Freudenberg where will meet it by bus after our tours and after it goes thru another 11 locks.

Today we chose a walking tour of Miltenberg which included a tasting tour of wine and cheeses.  Ian got to try the red and white wine and the schnapps.  I completely forgot my no alcohol rule and downed my sample of schnapps it was amazing ðŸ˜‰no I’ll affects.

We ambled around Miltenberg town for about an hour then back to the bus for the 15 minute trip to Freudenberg.

Tonight we are celebrating Ians birthday at the chefs table restaurant which only holds 20 people so 8 of us went and had great night 7 courses of the most amazing food, non stop alchohol and lots of laughs and of course the staff sang happy birthday to the  birthday boy ðŸ¤£ðŸ¤£

The ship is cruising to Wurzburg tonight. With another 10 Locks to go through.
