Today we went back to Kilkenny to do the Medieval Mile Museum tour and we were not disappointed. The tour took an hour and the tour guide was very enthusiastic about his subject, we learnt all about the Church that has been totally restored and interesting facts re who and whom are buried there. It was a Catholic church first so it had a Catholic family of nobility buried in the crypt, then the Church of England took it over so they covered the graves over with a load of gravel and buried their families of nobility on top. More than the church he went on to explain about the English royalty , the Irish and of course the French and the many skirmishes they all had to decide who Ireland belong to. The poor Irish land owners just had to wait it out and see what happened.

We then moved on to Blarney Castle and gardens to tick off one of our bucket list, we stood in the line for about an hour climbing the smallest and very uneven spiral staircase to get to the top of the castle to kiss the Blarney Stone. Claustrophobia nearly won but I persisted and finally both of us got to kiss the stone.

Then on to our Hotel for the night which is next to the river which is also the port of Cork very pretty, we are on the 6th floor so great view of the water. On to Killarney tomorrow for 3 nights.
