5/8/19

The day has finally come, we get to go to Cinque terra, we have been trying to get there for our last two trips to Europe. The first trip to Italy in 2008 we didn’t make it and in 2011 girls trip they had the massive mudslides and our hotel was washed away and we couldn’t go there either so here were are trying again. 🤞.

Up up early for the bus and three train trip to Monterosso but it was definitely worth the wait. On the trip from Empoli to La Spezia we went past the amazing mountains where the Italian marble is cut from, the Italian man on the train was very proud in his broken English to be able to tell us all the marble. Hard to imagine that it has been there for thousands of years , by how much marble is used in all the buildings since early times, there is still so much there, but he was saying the mountains in the pictures will all be gone in 2000 years.

We arrived in Monterosso around 2 pm booked into our hotel then off for an explore and lunch of course by the beach. In the pictures the coloured umbrellas signify private beaches where you pay 28 euro for an umbrella and 2 deck chairs, the public beaches consist of rocks or very little pebbly beach. We did get to put out toes in the water because we had eaten lunch at the beach hut restaurant which was part of the coloured umbrella beach.

Drinks on our terrace bar of our hotel then out for a pleasant dinner. We were all sceptical about the sea view we had paid a little extra for but we have got a little edge of a view but all in it is amazing just to be here.

We have booked a tour tomorrow which will take us pass all the towns down to La Spezia.
