We arrived at Venezia after an eventful plane trip. Firstly the plane wa delayed on the tarmac because of a strike at the airport, so we had to wait in line for refuelling, then we hit some pretty rough turbulence coming in to Venice at the other end which caused us to miss our landing so we had to go around again lol. But finally landed safely phew.... Last flight for a while... trains for the next few trips.

Venice is everything I remember it was, and best of all it is about 15 degrees cooler here. We arrived to a thunder storm which we didn’t mind and our apartment wasn’t that far from our drop off point so not a long walk.

Thanks Luciana for the tip on the apartment it is beautiful. We dropped our bags then out to find some food for breakfast, then out again to have dinner. My pick tonight so saw a restaurant on our way in called Amici’s, one we have fond memories of from Australia which is amazing, so off we go to eat there. Well only to find it is an Italian restaurant owned by asians lol but it was a reasonable meal, will chose better tomorrow 😬.

Today Sunday sleep in day but were woken by the toll of the church bells which are close by, so after breakfast and after Ian went out and brought us all umbrellas because it is pouring rain, we went out exploring. We found a Leonardo da Vinci museum which was very interesting and a couple of churches to look inside of, and made our way down to the Rialto bridge. We managed to hop on a water ferry and make our way back to our end of the canal without the GPS. Home for a rest before going out for an amazing dinner. Tomorrow going to make our way down to Doges palace and Prison and the Basilica, and checkout the tours to Murano for Tuesday.
