on the move again, we dropped the car at the Faro airport and caught a bus to Seville, it took around 3 1/2 hrs to get there through some very dry countryside. Olive trees everywhere, the climate here is well suited to growing olives most of them used to make Olive oil, but by products also. We expected to see some Orange groves but found out from our tour guide that here in Seville the oranges are bitter so they make marmalade mostly from there oranges and she kept mentioning Pomegranate trees as Grenada’s National tree so a bit confused as to what there main industry is but I think by the amount of Olive trees around I would say Olives.
Our first day here was a rest day catching up on washing etc and just walking around locally getting ready for our big day out on Sunday, our 12 hr day tour pick up At 9.45am and dropped back at around 10.30pm, what a day have laugh and look at our before and after selfie photos, would be safe to say we were wrecked. But it was 40 degrees for most of the day and we walked around for about 8 km. But was it worth it. Our tour was to the La Alhambra. But on the way they took us to Grenada where we had 2 1/2 hr free time to have lunch and visit the sites of the city, so of course we visited the obligatory Cathedral, Museum, shops and parks and managed some lunch at a nice restaurant and made it to the bus on time on to the Alhambra.,
La Alhambra was a Palace built by the Muslim people in1237 over the period of time between 1237 and 1492 two other palaces were added the Palaces of Comares and Lions there were 28 Sultans during this period the last Sultan left in 1492 when the Catholics took over from 1492 -1516 and the Military also moved in and a fort was added.
1500-1558 Carlos V moved in and added the imperial renaissance Palace. In 1870 the Alhambra is declared a national monument and is left to be overtaken and to be emptied of it contents, 1984 it became a World Heritage listing and is now being preserved along with the magnificent gardens surrounding it.
