Up early for our trip to San Gimignano, take our cases to the station no mean feat as I think we have the biggest and heaviest cases in Venice but we got stooged Sue and I at the biggest bridge where this you man kindly offered to carry our cases over the bridge for us, I knew he would charge us but not how much but it was worth it. He picked them up like they weighed nothing and ran over the bridge lol. 🤣🤣. First train was Venice to Florence very nice first class reserved seats two hours travel, then connected with a one hour local train to Poggibonsi which we got straight on then we arrived on time to get on a bus to the main gate of San Gimignano, have to say public transport in Europe is very impressive arrives on time and leaves on time.

Settled in to our apartment after a short wait for our hosts to drop off the keys then off to explore the city back for a rest, then out for dinner after the day trippers who invade the beautiful walled city of San Gimignano have gone for the day. We found this very nice restaurant which was a bit up market and felt a little underdressed in our shorts and T-shirt’s but the waitress told us it was the San gim was to come dressed as we were.

Day two

Slow start today, but we have decide that we are going to do a walk around the wall so breakfast and then out and about. No gps today sue was in charge of the paper map, we managed to walk almost halfway around the whole of the walled city taking in the beautiful sites both in and out of the walls.
