Day 20 2/9/2019

Today we are off to Chateau Jemniste, for lunch and a Falconry show.  On the way the tour guide filled us in on the history of the Chateau.  The same family has owned the Chateau since the early 1800’s.  But during the war the family were asked to choose if they wanted to become Germans or keep there own nationality.  They chose to keep there own nationality so therefore had their land and homes taken off of them.  Then the Germans lost the war so they got their land a homes back.  Then communism came into play and they lost their land and homes again. So once again the family were homeless.

They family didn’t regain ownership of the Chateau until 1995 and the current family has been restoring the Chateau ever since.

The young son who welcomed us to the Chateau told us he remembers having to move out of his room so the house could be shown to tourist each day.  This is how they they can afford the renovations.

We had a Falconry demonstration and a tour of the Chateau before lunch.

Back to the Hotel early afternoon for free time for a little shopping then relaxing before some drinks to say goodbye for the last time as most of the group are leaving tomorrow. We still have an extra night then we are off to Hawaii to see The Chilton’s - can’t wait, Harry is very excited 😆
